Volunteer Work

When I was a child my family often relied on the kindness of others for food and Christmas gifts. As an adult, I try to pay forward the kindnesses that we benefitted from. The common theme in my volunteer work is serving children and families.

Victor Elementary Scool PTA and Parent Volunteer

I have been a parent volunteer and have served as the Victor Elementary PTA as the Box Tops for Education Coordinator since 2017.

Scouts BSA Scouting for Food Coordinator

I have been the Pacifica District Scouting for Food Coordinator since 2019. In my role, I organize and coordinate food drives that serve scouts and local organizations as well as make myself available so that scouting families in need can contact me discreetly for resources.

Torrance Cub Scouts Pack 851 Committee

I serve on the committee of my children's Cub Scout Pack since 2017. Among my roles are:

  • Pack trainer: ensuring that all leaders are trained for their roles, including annual Youth Protection Training renewals.
  • Outdoor Chair: helping our pack organize attendance to council camping events including taking payments, making reservations. I also organize food that is inclusive of allergy needs and the cultures and religions of our scouting families, and making sure that the menu has healthy alternatives.
  • Youth Protection Champion: in this role I make sure that all adults who need Youth Protection  Training have it, answering questions regarding the requirements, and ensuring that there is two-deep leadership at all times as well as a trained female leader for any den with female scouts.
  • I serve multiple other roles as necessary including organizing toy drives for the holiday pack meetings, stepping in as an assistant den leader as necessary, and contributing to pack operations and fundraising efforts.

Laptop Elf Project

Laptop Elf Project is an organization that refurbishes and gives free-of-charge laptops to organizations and families in need. in Summer 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, I assisted the founder with distributing over 60 free devices to families to assist with distance learning.

Other Volunteer Work

  • Assist local business with 2012 Toys for Tots donation drive and future charitable works
  • Green Team Liaison for Pacific Audi 2011- 2012
  • Organized first Toys for Tots Drive at Pacific Audi for Winter 2011, influenced other 11 dealers in group to participate
